Voluntary Standard for Interior Insulating Windows
This standard applies to interior insulating window assemblies consisting of a removable glazed panel and a master frame or sub-frame which is installed to the interior side of a primary window opening. The panel shall consist of a light transmitting glazing material and shall contain a sash mold around its perimeter. The panel and the master framing or sub-framing shall attach to the primary window opening by a mounting system.
Interior insulating window assemblies are intended to be used in tandem with prime windows to improve interior climate control by increasing thermal efficiency and reducing air infiltration. They also provide an effective weather seal under normal wind conditions and pressures around the perimeter of the window opening and along any meeting rail(s)/stile(s) contained within a multi-panel assembly.
